“Case Of The Mondays?” Make Up First® Pro Shop Can Help!

Recovering from a long weekend? “Case of the Mondays?”  Let Make Up First® Pro Shop help you look refreshed and look awake…even if you don’t feel like you are! Follow our 3 easy steps!

Step 1: Prep your Skin.

SPLASH some cold water on your face to WAKE UP!!  Now that you are awake, lets go!

To refreshen your skin and tighten your pores, spritz your face with Embryolisse Rose Water. Next apply moisturizer!  Can’t go wrong with  Embryolisse Lait-Creme for your face and neck. With your finger of choice, gently pat eye cream on the delicate under-eye skin, using  Embryolisse Soin Contour Des Yuex . Follow with your lip prep, applying Rosebud Salve to lock in moisture and add a glossy lip.

Step 2: Correct and Conceal.

Cover your dark circles with Eve Peal Corrector Duos, available in 4 shades (Fair/Light, Light/ Medium, Medium/Tan, and Tan/Dark, (available HERE). The Eve Pearl duos have two shades of salmon.  Use the darker salmon color to color-correct blue/purple colored dark circles, and the lighter shade to brighten. For those fortunate individuals who do not suffer from dark under-eye circles, a less intense brightening try BECCA’s Under Eye Brightening  Corrector, available HERE.

STEP 3: Open your Eyes.

No need to go all out. To open your eyes, simply curl your lashes, add liner, and mascara. These 3 quick steps will dramatically waken you up without adding extra time or unnecessary product. Our favorite lash curler is Tweezerman Pro Lash Curler, available HERE. For a quick and easy liner, use KEVYN AUCOIN’s Precision Eye Pencil Premitif; it is actually double-sided, with a smudger, changing what you started as a cat eye, into a beautiful smokey eye with one smudge. Finally, use KEVYN AUCOIN’s The Curling Mascara found HERE.

Does Your Lipstick Fade? The Make Up First® Pro Shop Is Here For You!

Losing Your Lips!  Don’t Panic!  As Always… The Make Up First® Pro Shop Will Show You How To Find Them!

MAKE YOUR LIPS LAST:

screen-shot-2016-10-20-at-11-46-29-am

Pencils are your new best friend. Tip: Line and fill in your lip with lip pencil (the color of your lipstick or a neutral flesh color will do). This will create an additional layer for an all day wear; while keeping your lipstick from going stray.

Pro Tip: For reshaping your lips, we recommend adding a light layer of foundation or concealer to create a clean canvas. Before you add your lipstick, you can draw your desired lip shape or hide imperfections with your lip pencil!

Setting your lipstick. To make lipstick last, setting lipstick is a non-negotiable. Especially for weddings, events, and photoshoots!

Pro Tip: Did you know you can powder your lips?  Take a piece of tissue paper and separate the 2-ply so you have a single ply piece. Place it over your lips and with a powder brush, softly dust your translucent setting powder on top. This will remove the oils in the lipstick creating a longer, less smudge-able finish. For extra longevity, try this step twice.  (first hd powder)

Favorite Halloween Makeup Looks 2016 – Make Up First ® Pro’s Show You How

Make Up First ® School of Makeup Artistry + Pro Shop share how to create three fun Halloween makeup looks. From Glam/Gore to Snapchat Deer Filter to Harley Quinn, let the pros take you through, step by step:

GLAM/GORE — Achieve the look:

Glam and Gore.

Products available at the Make Up First ® Pro Shop

For The Eyes: Cinema Secrets Eye Base, “First” by Make Up First ® Pro Eyeshadow Palette, Eve Pearl Liquid Liner, Callas Latex-Free Lash Glue, ModelRock False Lashes (#08), “First” by Make Up First ® Mascara

GLAM/GORE MAKEUP APPLICATION

Begin with a clean and moisturized face.

GLAM APPLICATION

The Eyes:

1. Prime the eyelid with an eye primer. Use a translucent set powder or an eye shadow powder to set the primer.
2. Apply the powder eye shadows: Use a mid-tone from the lash line to the contour of the eyelid.
3. Select a darker tone to apply to the contour of the eye.
4. Apply a light tone under the arch of the brow and sometimes also in the corner of the eye.
5. Line the upper lash line and “marry” it into the crease.
6. Apply mascara.
7. Apply false lashes.
Products: Cinema Secrets Eye Base, “First” by Make Up First ® Pro Eye-Shadow Palette, Eve Pearl Liquid Liner, Callas Latex-Free Lash Glue, ModelRock False Eyelashes, “First” by Make Up First ® Mascara

The Face: Foundation

1. Apply a foundation to one half of the face.

The Cheeks: Blush

1. Apply the blush color directly on the cheekbone; you may wish to sculpt underneath the blush by using a contouring powder.
Products: Mehron Blush Palette

The Lips:

1. Be sure that the lips are not dry and chapped. Prep the lips with a Rosebud Salve.
2. Line the lip and fill in the entire lip with a lip pencil.
3. Apply the lipstick and complete the look with a clear or pigmented gloss.
Products: OCC Lip Pencil “Anime,” ModelRock Liquid Lipstick “Planet 22”

GORE APPLICATION: If at any point, you feel uncomfortable, itchy, burning, or tingling, please remove all of the makeup.

1. To create a burn, mix ½ a packet of KNOX gelatin and a teaspoon of oats or grits (this will add texture) with a Tablespoon of water. Mix until the ingredients are an applesauceconsistency.
2. With a spoon, start to layer on the face (avoid the eye, and the hairline). The more sheer the better, as this will allow the mixture to dry faster. Best if you use a blow-dryer (cold air only) to help the mixture dry. This process can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes, depending on how many layers you use. Optional: Teeth. You can use fake nails and apply the teeth on the mouth and side of the face in an upward direction. You can glue them on with a latex free eyelash glue (Callas), or add them while the gelatin mixture is setting.
3. Now, with a sponge or brush, take your cream theatrical makeup and mix the color with glycerin to create a watercolor consistency. Start with a sheer base of red. Be sure to keep the product uneven and layer more red and burgundy in some of the flatter surfaces to create depth.
4. For the eye area, using the dark purple cream, paint over the eyelid, working downward around the eye. With black powder, set the cream to create a more dimensional, hollow eye.
5. Add stage blood.
Products: Knox Gelatin, Grits/Oatmeal, Glycerin, False Nails, Callas Latex-Free Lash Glue, Mehron Bruise Wheel, Mehron Stipple Sponge, Mehron Instense Black Eye-Shadow, Mehron Stage Blood, Cetaphil Cold Cream

Removal:

Most likely, you can peel most of the gelatin mixture off of your face when you are ready to take it off. For the remaining bits and makeup, use cold cream. Simply rub it in, as you would with face wash. Then, using a towel or tissue, wipe the cream away.

SNAPCHAT DEER FILTER – Achieve the Look:

Snapchat Deer Filter.

Products available at Make Up First ® Pro Shop

For The Face: Face Atelier Foundation, AJ Crimson Foundation, Mehron Paint Stick (White), BECCA Mineral Foundation Powder “Café,” BECCA Blush Palette,
For The Eyes: Kevyn Aucoin Eyeliner Pencil “Black,” Nyx Eyeliner Pencil “White,” Eve Pearl Liquid Liner “Black,” Jordan Liberty – Liberty Republic False Lashes, Kevyn Aucoin Essential Mascara
For The Lips: Kevyn Aucoin Lip Liner “Medium,” ModelRock Liquid Lip “Born This Way,” BECCA Lip Shimmer Soufflé Lip Gloss

SNAPCHAT FILTER – DEER MAKEUP APPLICATION

Begin with a clean and moisturized face.

The Face: Foundation

1. Apply liquid or cream; choose your natural foundation color and conceal, as needed.
2. With a foundation shade 2-3 shades darker than your natural skin tone, and a synthetic brush, create a curve-shape starting from the middle of your left eyebrow to the middle of your right eyebrow. Fill in this shape with the darker foundation color.
3. With a pointed swab or q-tip and makeup remover, wipe away where you want to add your white fur marks; with a clean synthetic brush, fill in the spaces with white theatrical cream makeup. To set this makeup, use a translucent powder and a powder puff.
3. Now, with the darker foundation color, fill in between your eyebrows and fill in the top portion of your nose (bridge only). Powder to set.
4. With a white eyeliner pencil draw the white nose (it looks like a bell). Before you fill the area in with white; take a black eyeliner pencil and draw the deer nose (heart-shape) on and underneath the nose. Fill in with black cream and then set with a black eyeshadow. Once you are happy with the nose, fill in the white fur patch with white theatrical cream makeup. Set this product with a small fluffy brush and white eyeshadow.
Products: Becca Ultimate Coverage Foundation (Porcelain) + Cinema Secrets Ultra-Translucent Setting Powder *Mehron Paint Stick (White)

The Eyes:

1. Place a neutral eyeshadow color on your entire lid.
2. With liquid liner, draw an extended cat-eye. This look requires two wings on each eye.
3. For under the eye, using the white or nude eyeliner pencil you will want to fill in your water line, making your eyes look bigger.
4. Curl the Lashes.
5. Apply mascara.
6. OPTIONAL: Apply false lashes.
Products: INGLOT Eyeshadows: Red (Eyeshadow #382) + Red (Blush #66), Blue (Eyeshadow #321) + (Eyeshadow #371), Black (Eyeshadow 391), Kevyn Aucoin Pencil Liner in Black, False Lashes: Jordan Liberty – Liberty Republic Lashes

The Lips:

1. Use a nude lip liner. First, line the lip and then fill in the entire lip with the lip pencil.
2. Apply a nude lipstick or gloss.
Products: Kevyn Aucoin Lip Pencil (Cerise) and Kevyn Aucoin – The Matte Lip Color Lipstick (Eternal)

HARLEY QUINN — Achieve the look:

Harley Quinn.

Products available at the Make Up First ® Pro Shop

For The Face: BECCA Ultimate Coverage Foundation, Cinema Secrets Ultra-Translucent Powder
For The Eyes: INGLOT Eyeshadows: Red Eyeshadow (#382) Red Blush (#66), Blue Eyeshadow (#321) Eyeshadow (#371), Black Eyeshadow (#391), Kevyn Aucoin Pencil Liner in Black, Monda False Lashes (#75 for bottom lashes + #113 for top lashes), Eve Pearl Liquid Eyeliner
For The Lips: Rosebud Salve, Kevyn Aucoin Lip Pencil “Cerise”, Kevyn Aucoin – The Matte Lip Color Lipstick “Eternal”

HARLEY QUINN – MAKEUP APPLICATION

Begin with a clean and moisturized face.

The Face: Foundation

Select a foundation for use on the entire face; the foundation selected should be significantly lighter or even white* for this look. Add a light layer of translucent setting powder.
Products: Becca Ultimate Coverage Foundation (Porcelain) + Cinema Secrets Ultra-Translucent Setting Powder *Mehron Paint Stick (White)

The Eyes:

1. For one eye, use a pink/red pressed eyeshadow powder. With a fluffy brush, place the color on your lid. With your finger or brush drag the shadow outwards down the cheek, under the eye. Remember, you want this to be a smeared makeup look. It’s okay to be playful and messy!
2. Using the steps above, do this on the other eye with a selected pressed powder blue eyeshadow.
3. With a black pressed eye-shadow, line the upper lash line and “marry” it into the crease. To create a smoky effect. Line the lower lash line with a black pencil or black liquid liner. Again, take a smaller, pointed brush with black eyeshadow, and smudge the lower lash line.
4. Curl the Lashes.
5. Apply mascara.
6. OPTIONAL: Apply false lashes.
Products: INGLOT Eyeshadows: Red (Eyeshadow #382) + Red (Blush #66), Blue (Eyeshadow #321) + (Eyeshadow #371), Black (Eyeshadow 391), Kevyn Aucoin Pencil Liner in Black, Eve Pearl Liquid Eyeliner, False Lashes: Monda (#75 bottom, #113 top)

Tattoo Accents:

1. With a black liquid eyeliner, black theatrical cream makeup, or black eyeshadow draw a heart under one of your eyes.
Optional: With the same technique, you can choose to write in Harley’s tattoo, “ROTTEN” on the same side as the heart. It is located on the jaw line.
Products: Eve Pearl Liquid Liner in Black, Mehron Intense Black Eyeshadow

The Lips:

1. Line the lip with red lip liner. Then fill in the entire lip with the lip pencil.
2. Apply a red lipstick.
3. Optional: Again, for the messy-dirty look, smear the lipstick outwards.
Products: Kevyn Aucoin Lip Pencil (Cerise) and Kevyn Aucoin – The Matte Lip Color Lipstick (Eternal), Rosebud Salve

Our Lips Don’t Lie… At Make Up First ® Pro Shop!

Women have been applying color to their lips for centuries! Now, more than ever, we have a variety of lip colors and textures from which to choose. Following is a breakdown of lipstick textures that you may want to try.

Tip: This Fall/Winter Season we are seeing bold and bright, as well as natural and sophisticated colors. Even “glitter lips”  were seen on the runways! Break your lipstick rules…anything goes this season!

STYLES + TEXTURES: Although, lipstick is mostly made up of the same ingredients (oils, wax, and pigments), there are many different textures and styles to choose from.

Screen Shot 2016-10-20 at 1.12.48 PM.png

SATIN: A creamy consistency with a slight shine. Tip: Great for mature clients, the creamy formula will hydrate the lips and the shine will make the lips look plump. A win win.

Screen Shot 2016-10-20 at 1.12.56 PM.png

MATTE: Matte lipsticks are opaque and for that reason lay flat. Matte lipsticks are great for all day wear. Tip: depending on the formula, matte lipstick can be dehydrating. Make sure you moisturize with Rosebud Salve or Mario Badescu Lip Wax in between applications.

screen-shot-2016-10-20-at-11-39-26-am

LIQUID: A thick consistency that goes on wet and dries matte. This variation of lipstick is highly pigmented and coveted for its long-lasting effect. Tip: depending on the formula, liquid – matte lipstick can be dehydrating. Make sure you moisturize with Rosebud Salve or Mario Badescu Lip Wax in between applications.

screen-shot-2016-10-20-at-11-39-31-am

GLOSSY: A reflective-high-shine, great for exaggerating your lips or creating drama.

screen-shot-2016-10-20-at-11-39-34-am

SHEER: Best suited for a natural, no-makeup-makeup. More opaque than a lip balm but not quite as think of a consistency as matte or satin lipstick finishes. Sheer lippies are loved for their slight shine.

screen-shot-2016-10-20-at-11-39-39-am

STAIN: A build-able lip color, with a looser consistency. Tip: Stains are made with more water so they are great for a multiple purposes. Can be used on lips and cheeks for a brush of color!
